Testing out Aurawhite Premium 15X Stemcell Collagen

Aurawhite Beauty 15X Stemcell Collagen at RM180 per one month's supply bottle. On the right is the free shaker containing the recommended amount of supplement dissolved in an estimated 120ml of water. A free whitening soap came with the purchase too.

And so I have succumbed to the bandwagon. Out of sheer curiosity and also more probably because am a sucker for beauty and wellness stuff. The only other such beauty "supplements" I ever tried was from the Kinohimitsu brand because it looked more legit than the stuff being hawked over FB or blogspots. But that one month trial didnt yield any result so didnt bother to continue with it.

As for the above supplement, I've seen it being hawked all over social media for some time, and of course made more well-known by its infamous former ambassador but I've never succumbed to trying it out. Until I saw it being sold in SaSa.

Like really? Somehow it making it into SaSa stores and also being GMP and KKM certified made it legit for me to test it out. And so I did.

It was a bit steep at RM180 per bottle, came with a free pink shaker and whitening soap. I havent tried the soap but it sure has a strong perfumy smell. There's a tiny little pink scoop buried in the depths of the bottle so recommend that you shake the bottle till you hear the scoop hitting the inner lid. Because I made the mistake of not knowing there was a scoop buried in there and had used a tablespoon for the first three days I tried the product. God knows I probably ingested more of the product than I was supposed to the first three days...

And my belated additional research on the product yielded blogspots recommending that the product not be taken during the first three days of having your period. Apparently it can mess with your cycle, so, heads up on that. Its not mentioned on the actual product but some online sellers are all listing that particular info out.

How to take it is basically first thing in the morning and last thing at night; two scoops shaken in 120ml of water. And then to drink plenty of plain water (bare minimum of 1.5 litres although 2 litres is more like it) and not to take coffee and or tea. Yeah. Like I can give up my coffee. Though I try to limit it to one cup coffee and one cup green tea. And then plenty of plain water.

Anyhow am about 12 days into taking it. The product claims you can see result in as early as 7 days (!) though for me the main changes I underwent was that the first three days I did get to do number two a bit more than usual. The product does claim it detoxifies. And my lips felt more moist and plumped up and dare I say, slightly pinker? Am naturally fair to medium tone and tan easily so cant really comment on the getting fairer bit just yet since I just went under the hot scorching sun around the time I started taking the product. I think it may have helped a bit with my pimple scars though, I see them lightening a bit faster than they normally would. Am hoping it will also help with my enlarged pores. Will have to wait and see for any other possible changes.

Anyhow the product claims are as follows (the England a bit fail on their packaging and promo materials so I edited it a bit here and there, and my comments are in brackets):

Loving Bourjois :)

So during the recent long weekend I had the chance to test out my Bourjois goodies. After non-stop testing over a few days, I have to say for my combination/oily skin, I've found my go-to drugstore foundation in Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation. Yay!

My recent Bourjois mini haul.
For my medium tone skin, I picked No 53. The description Light Beige is a misnomer; it's really more like Medium Beige.
It has a soft, blendable texture that allows for easy application.

Blends out beautifully. Medium and buildable semi-matte coverage, SPF10.
After a brief dalliance with the highly-recommended Loreal's True Match foundation, which ended up so-so, not enough coverage and not helping my oily complexion much, I can finally say I have found The One, for drugstore category.

The Bourjois 123 Perfect foundation is great for a semi-matte look. I like how it looks natural before setting with powder but then knowing how my oily face will shine soon enough, I usually set it with loose powder.

This time around I tried my newly-purchased Bourjois Loose Powder in 02. There were only two colours available, I chose the darker powder, which looked like it has a bit more yellow in it. Unlike the foundation, the packaging for the loose powder was a bit flimsy with a basic powder puff. The texture was not as finely milled as I would prefer but nevertheless does the job. Dabbing it on reminded me of the old aunties in the past when they put on "bedak sejuk" :D ...rofl...but the excess powder can easily be buffed off. Well, not bad for its price though not a must have.

Then also tried my second addition to the pot blush, this time in Rose Ambre. I was kinda disappointed with the texture of this one compared to my first purchase, which was of Healthy Mix. This latest addition was powdery and didnt blend so well. The colour looks a bit dark rather than a healthy flush on me as well. Somehow  I feel the quality of the packaging is not as good as before too but I could be wrong.

Back to the 123 Perfect foundation, it claims to have 3 correcting pigments that claim to be anti-dark circles, anti-dull complexion and anti-redness, and to last up to 16 hours. Sounds like a high order but basically what it did for me was that it evened out my complexion and if I needed more coverage, I could blend on some more. It has a semi-matte velvety finish which I pretty much prefer over to matte. As for the 16 hour claim, not with my skin. I typically have to touch up 4 or 6 hours in general, but it really depends if am indoors or outdoors in this humid weather.

The sturdy packaging is fantastic as well, a slim glass bottle with pump encasing 30ml worth of product. Retails at RM55.90. The pot blush retails at RM39.90 while the Loose Powder retails at RM49.90. However I bought all three during a sale at the main kiosk in Sunway so had a really great deal with 20% off.

Bourjois 1 Seconde Gel Silicone Texture nailpolish

When I saw this particular shade of blue nailpolish at the Bourjois counter, had to get it!

Bourjois 1 Seconde Gel Silicone Texture Nailpolish in 08 Bleu Water
It was going for about RM20 (similar price range with Revlon), and I love it! The broad brush makes it especially easy to use and the formula is not bad at all. Dries quite fast and two coats will do. Its a gorgeous skyblue shade to add to my collection.

A dupe for Benjabelle brush holder?!

Ok. When I got my first set of brushes ever from Coastal Scents, like two years ago, I have since moved on to Real Techniques as my go-to brushes, with some odd bits of brushes I picked up from here and there.

Using brushes meant having the added step of caring and cleaning for them too. All the while I've been simply drying them laid on a face towel, brush head downwards at the sloping tilt of the top of my glamorous washing machine.

I've heard and seen pictures of this mysterious contraption called Benjabelle, that make-up aficionados with plenty of brushes to dry, use with rapturous comments on its usefulness. As always, gullible as I am, the price for one still made me hesitate. The cheapest variant still went for slightly above a hundred Malaysian ringgit. After all the sloping top of the washing machine seemed fine - until the cat decides to jump over it, or the brushes get knocked off when someone over vigorously tosses their laundry to get to the laundry basket.

To cut long story short, I was at this gem of a stall in Midvalley, that sells makeup brushes and bits and bobs, to pick up a disposable mascara wand (I use it to brush shape up my eyebrows prior to drawing them in mostly though it comes in real handy to separate mascara-ed eyelashes too) and add on my brush protector nets. Then lo and behold...I see behind the counter:

My dupe Benjabelle! Excuse the paper bag, its there exclusively to cover the unsightly background. This was assembled at home, after purchase naturally :P
What got me even more excited was the pricetag. A mere RM55! Like less than half the price of the same Benjabelle model. After comparing pictures of the variant from the website , I conclude that what I purchased is a Sunflower Brush Tree that sells for like RM140 ish here (plus or minus shipping) through local re-sellers.

It came flat-packed like this with a sticker price of RM65 but sold for RM55. Apparently they had white too but I decided to stick to the classic black. Pretty simple and easy to assemble.

Top view. Pretty versatile choices of holders, from bigger brushes down to mid and small eyeshadow brushes. Love!
With a variety of brushes slotted in. Works great!
I was quite excited to try out my purchase and did so as soon as I got home. Washed the stippling and highlighter/concealer brushes that I coincidentally bought previously from the same stall and test-drove my dupe Benjabelle. Added on my Elf eyeshadow brush to test the smaller holder. Worked fine too.

Ahh. The finds one finds. The quality of brushes sold at that stall is pretty good too (I sense a review coming on...). It's on the basement floor, along the way that connects to the Garden's food hall area.

:) Love a good bargain.

Mini haul! Bourjois and Inglot

So I've been majorly absent from logging in my beauty purchases. Yes, I have been lazy. And busy busy with work, and now after an almost mini breakdown, have now taken a step back to find ways to destress. Which led me to resurrect this blog again.

As can be imagined, my collection has truly grown by leaps and bounds, although I wish I can say the same about my actual makeup skills. One major development I can report since my humble beginnings of actually purchasing and learning to use brushes to apply foundation is that...I now can only apply my foundation with a brush. I cant go back to my Neolithic days of only using my fingers (ick!).

Anyway before I go on rambling, during the weekend I went on a mini bender and finally to satisfy my curiosity, went to Sunway Pyramid to get a good look at Malaysia's first Bourjois kiosk. Haha, sounds pathetic, but it was just last year that I went around Bugis Street and then Marina Square in Singapore, hot on the Bourjois trail.

And yes, while I was in Sunway Pyramid, I went back to where it started it all for me when it came to that wonderful Polish brand, Inglot. Ahhh..memories! My very first blusher that ever hit pan was that very first Inglot blusher.

My lovelies!Giving in to my lust for Bourjois and Inglot..a teeny bit.

The Bourjois kiosk was a little bit of a letdown. It still wasn't as extensive as the one in John Little over at Marina Square. As can be seen just from the range of shades; they only had up to 53. They don't carry the cream blushers either :( But they did have the nail polish. And I couldnt resist getting a dreamy sky blue. The so-called cult Healthy Mix foundation that I first got last year was a little too healthy for me (I did gave it to my Mum, for whom the shade and formulation suited better) and so this time around (since they had an offer for the foundation and powder items), I decided to try the 123 Perfect Foundation instead. Also decided to try the loose powder. And added another of those cute round pot blushes. I really adored the Healthy Mix blusher that I first bought hence this tentative addition of a different shade.

As for Inglot..I couldnt resist. If you must know, I have added a few Inglot lipsticks, eyeshadows and its loose powder to my collection since that first time I fell in love with this line of cosmetics. And now after a long while, this blusher with its case. Plus this new product they have, essentially a lipliner but doubles up as a matte lipstick.

Anyway, thats a little tease on what I just got; will update on the reviews. Be prepared with me going full blast putting up a number of posts :D

Its good to be back. Wake up, it's makeup, people!
